Meet the Founders
Our journey started back in 2015 at St George’s NHS Trust in London, where we met as Legal Services Managers. Years later, working in neighbouring Trusts as Heads of Legal Services, we found ourselves regularly collaborating, sharing ideas, frustrations, and above all, a shared belief that legal teams could be run differently.
In 2021, we had the opportunity to put our ideas into practice when we came together in the same Trust. With just two people, we built a legal department that was lean, highly effective, and widely respected. It required no expansion, no extra resourcing, just clarity, structure, and purpose.
This success sparked something bigger. In late 2022, Healthcare Legal Consultancy Ltd was officially formed, with a vision to bring that same level of efficiency and excellence to legal teams across the NHS.

Puja
I’m a qualified lawyer, having trained with a prominent NHS panel firm. During my training, I was selected for a secondment with NHS Resolution and an NHS Trust, which gave me invaluable insight into the full spectrum of healthcare legal services.
I’ve worked across multiple Trusts and most recently held an interim Head of Legal Services role for four years, an experience that helped shape the blueprint for what Healthcare Legal is today.

Sarah
I bring 15 years’ experience in NHS legal departments spanning acute, mental health and community services. With qualifications through CILEX and the Open University, I’ve specialised in legal and clinical risk management.
My time as a Head of Legal Services helped me understand not just the pressures of the role, but how to build a department that can thrive under them.

We don’t just want to offer advice, we want to help rebuild legal departments to be more efficient, more collaborative, and more impactful across the Trust.
What made our own team successful wasn’t just experience or qualifications, it was a shared passion for improvement, respect for good processes, and an unshakable belief in the NHS. We’re proud to be part of it, and we’re committed to supporting it from the inside out.
